DELMAR – John J. Moloney, 75, passed away at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, November 12, 2016.
Born April 6, 1941 in Listowel, Co. Kerry, Ireland, he was the fifth of sixteen children born to Patrick and Ellen (Heffernan) Moloney. At the age of 18 he moved to New York City, where he worked as a bus inspector for Queens Surface Transit for over 30 years. Upon retirement, John and his wife, the late Rita (Gallagher) Moloney, relocated to Slingerlands, NY to be near their sons and grandchildren. John was a lifelong fisherman and boater.
He leaves behind his sons, Sean and his wife Michelle of Delmar, and Brendan of Queens; his grandchildren John (17), Sheila (15), Michael (13) and Aiden (8) and Beau (6 months); his siblings, Jim, Joan, Pat, Mary, Mossie, Leana, Margaret, Danny, Patsy and Sheila; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, John is predeceased by his siblings, Joe, Michael, Tom, Kit and Gerard.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 18th at 9:30am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Family and friends are invited to call at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar on Thursday, November 17th from 4 to 7pm. Interment will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
