DELMAR - John Carlton Keller, 92, of Delmar, beloved husband of Grace Keller, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Hospital, 113 Holland Avenue, Albany, NY, 12208. John was born in Syracuse, N.Y. and resided in Delmar with his wife for almost all of their 69 years of married life. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the armed services for four years and ten days. He was the devoted father of Ron C. Keller (Shari) of Guilderland and Carlton W. Keller (Sandy) of Jefferson, Texas. He was the adored grandfather of Scott Keller of Delmar, Bonnie Keller Biek, Jennifer Keller and Jon Keller of Guilderland, Brenda Keller Abraham (Donny), Philip Keller and Jeff Keller of Texas. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
John, or Carlton (as he was called by his friends), received an associate degree in accounting. While serving in World War II, he was a radio operator and medic. He served oversees in Central Europe, Normandy and Northern France. He received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Once home from the war, Carlton worked as a printer at Boyd Printing Company and later opened his own printing company, Gralton Press. He and Grace were loving, foster parents of 27 children. Carlton, along with his wife, was an active member in the Albany and Greater Albany Seventh-day Adventist Church and was dedicated to serving his Lord, Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will be held at the Greater Albany Seventh-day Adventist Church, St. Agnes Highway, in Cohoes at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 21. An interment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery located at 680 Delaware Avenue, Albany, on Friday, April 22. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Albany Seventh-day Adventist Church or the Albany VA Hospital, c/o Voluntary Donations, in memory of John Carlton Keller.
