John E. "Jack" Flagler, Jr., 87, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024. Born on March 20, 1937 in Albany, he was the son of the late John E. and Mildred L. (Sturtevant) Flagler.

A lifelong Albany resident, Jack graduated from St. Teresa of Avila School and Vincentian Institute, where he met the love of his life, the late Margaret Patricia Flagler (Patti). Jack and Patti were married in 1956 and enjoyed 54 years of loving marriage. Jack proudly served in the New York Army National Guard from 1954 to 1961. He worked for the NYS OGS from 1956 to 1992. In his retirement years, he remained active by working for the State Police and as a ranger at several area golf courses.

He enjoyed golf, bowling, softball, snowmobiling, and travel, especially annual family trips to Old Orchard Beach Maine. In retirement, he and Patti toured the Great National Parks out west, went on cruises and enjoyed road trips to the Florida Keys and many places in between. Jack was a proud 60+ year member of the Slingerlands Fire Company and a member of Blanchard-Currey Post 1040 American Legion. Jack established and managed an annual golf tournament in memory of his late son, “Jake”, benefiting charities for children battling childhood cancer.

Survivors include his daughter Debra (Joseph) Balletto; son Joseph (Mary Beth) Flagler; brother Robert (Cindy) Flagler; grandchildren Dan (Andrea) Balletto, Marisa Balletto, Jared (Taylor), Zachary and Samantha Flagler; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jack was predeceased by a son, John Gerard Flagler; daughter, Patricia Eileen Flagler; sister, Margaretta (Peg) Gorman; and her husband, Patrick.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of the Fenimore Wing at Schuyler Ridge in Clifton Park for the loving care Jack received during this past year.
