Joao O. Martins

ALBANY -Joao O. Martins, 60, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his family. Born on April 12, 1954 in Funchal, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio de Martins de Nobrega and Maria Coelho de Ornelas. Mr. Martins was employed at Albany Medical Center Hospital for the last several years. He enjoyed visiting Madeira each year with his wife and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Joao was a car enthusiast and enjoyed working on them and tinkering around in his garage. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Maria Conceicao Martins; two children, Carla Martins (Matthew Kozakiewicz) of Voorheesville and Paulo L. Martins (Kristin) of Albany; two grandchildren, Leszek and Lukasz; and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, April 25th from 10 am to 12 noon at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
