Joanne M. Quinn (Delmar, New York) passed away on October 2, 2024, in Albany, New York, at the age of ninety-three, with family members by her side.
Joanne was born in New Jersey but spent most of her life in the Hudson Valley region of New York State. She was known for her refined, quiet demeanor, great sense of humor, and willingness to help others. As a college graduate with a degree in teaching, Joanne taught elementary school early in her career. She later served as director of her parish religious education program and taught preschool children for several years. With a mind always open to learning, Joanne pursued varied interests, including art, reading, and exploring nature. She could often be found knitting or finishing a crossword puzzle. She loved music, especially opera, and was an accomplished pianist.
Joanne loved her extended family and treasured visiting and holiday times together. She is survived by her eight children: Christopher and his wife Ann, Brian, Martin, Marian, Matthew and his wife Lisa, Monica, Anne, and Elissa, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joanne’s name may be sent to Bridge of Promise (bridgeofpromise.org) Bellevue, WA or the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York (regionalfoodbank.net). Joanne’s legacy will live on through the many lives she touched. A memorial Mass in celebration of Joanne’s life will be held at a future date.
