DELMAR - Joan F. Collen, 80, a longtime resident of Delmar, died on Monday, April 11, 2011.
Born in Albany on November 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Anna (O'Sullivan) Kraft. A longtime member of the Delmar Reformed Church, Joan had served as treasurer for the Sunday School as well as being involved in many other church activities. She worked as an accountant for many years at Walquist and Renodin in Albany, retiring four years ago. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arthur J. Collen and two brothers, William and Edward Kraft.
Survivors include three daughters, JoAnn Gates (Michael) of Groton, MA, Amy Germaine (Mark) of Huson, MT and Frances Collen of Etna, ME; two sons, Paul Collen of Bloomfield, CT and Eugene Collen (Lisa) of Glenmont; a sister, Anna Welter of Albany; and nine grandchildren, Shaina, Kevin and Jason Gates; Nicholas, Kimberly and Patricia Collen and Tyler, Griffin and Cassandra Collen.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm and on Thursday from 10 to 10:30 am at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday at the Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Ave., Delmar. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery, Glenmont.
