DELMAR- Jean H. Buno died suddenly in her home on Friday, June 24, 2016. She was just shy of her 88th birthday.
Jean was born in Buffalo on July 19, 1928, daughter of the late Alexander Schmitz and Marjorie (Leahy) Schmitz. Jean was employed in a support position at the Albany Medical College, Office of Admissions for 23 years. She spent her time reaching out and helping people in whatever way she could. Jean loved her job as a volunteer for the town of Bethlehem delivering Meals on Wheels and truly enjoyed meeting weekly with everyone on her route. She would often return to bring small gifts to those who were alone. Jean was a regular and dedicated parishioner at St. Thomas Church in Delmar and was a frequent participant in the town of Bethlehem senior activities.
Jean's life was defined by her unconditional love for her family, her kindness toward others and her deep faith in God. She was an outgoing person who loved to "visit" with people. She always had a good word for everyone in every situation. Her loving nature and genuine concern for others came through in every encounter. Jean was a truly selfless individual.
Jean was predeceased by John W. Buno, her loving husband of 54 years. She is survived by her beloved family, daughter Sara Kremer and her husband Joel, her grandchildren Michael and Meryl Kremer, and her dog Patty.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar, on Tuesday, June 28 from 4 to 7pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 9:30am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar.
