SLINGERLANDS - Jean M. Balint died May 11, 2018 after a long and fulfilling life. She was beloved by family, friends, and acquaintances alike. She was one of a pioneering group of female medical college graduates in England in the 1940s, but she described herself as a "reluctant physician and happy daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and volunteer." Jean seemed to constantly have a spring in her step and a twinkle in her eye, and her boundless energy was truly infectious. With her good hearted nature and incredibly sharp wit, Jean made countless friends and was always the one to turn to for comfort and advice. Jean was married to John Balint (now deceased) for 67 years. She is survived by her two children Peter Balint and his wife Judy and Jane Ramsey and her husband Kenneth; two grandchildren Simon Balint and his wife Elise and Rachael Ricks; three greatgrandchildren Sawyer and Hanieka Jean Balint and Mathias Fraser, her nieces Natasha Quested and Elizabeth Birks, and her god daughter Bridget Danzelman. Please join her family for a celebration of her life: there will be visitation from 4 to 6 pm on Thursday, May 17th at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar, followed immediately by a memorial service at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, Peppertree Rescue or the charity of your choice.
