ALBANY – James F. Leonard, 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.
Born in Albany on April 22, 1931, he was the son of the late Fay and Edna (Miller) Leonard. Jim graduated from RPI with his Bachelors in Engineering and received his Masters degree in Engineering from Cornell University. A U.S. Navy veteran, he honorably served his country during the Korean War. Jim had been employed as an engineering manager with New York Telephone Co. before retiring. He had been an active member and former treasurer of First Lutheran Church of Albany. He loved to ski, play golf, workout at the YMCA and do anything outdoors with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Robbiano and Shirley Palmer.
Survivors include a sister, Doris Marsh; children, Dan Leonard (Sue), Kathy Mau (Gerry), Deb Horick (Ed), Janine Leonard, and Donna Ryan (John); son-in-law, Jim Prehoda; wife, Colleen Leonard and step-daughter, Shawn Snyder; and grandchildren, Ryan, Alyssa and Kyle Mau, Heather Seybold (Drew), Corey, Christina and Nicole Wright, Tyler, Dylan and Krysta Prehoda, Shannon and Logan Ryan, and Megan and Kevin Leonard.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 21
st
at 1 pm at First Lutheran Church, 181 Western Ave. (between N. Lake Ave. and
Quail St.
), Albany. A graveside service with military honors will be held 10 am Monday, January 22
