SARATOGA SPRINGS - Crounse, Irma P., 86, passed away peacefully of natural causes, on Sunday morning December 6, 2015 in Saratoga Springs.
Irma was a longtime resident of Glenmont and a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School and Mildred Elley. She was born on January 16, 1928, the only child of the late Bertha Smith Pangburn and Elbert Pangburn. She was the beloved wife of the late Milton E. Crounse, Jr. and the devoted mother of Mark (Susan) and Russ (Sandy) Crounse of Bethlehem and Laura Hamlett (James) of Greenville, S.C.
She was the cherished grandmother of Jessica (David) Ellis and Brad (Elizabeth) Hamlett; Shane (Dani), Nathan (Melissa) and Cody Crounse. She was the great-grandmother of Erica and Sam Ellis and Ann Louise and Mary Beth Hamlett.
Irma shared a love of the Adirondacks with her family and many summers were spent at their family camp on Loon Lake. She loved her flower garden and tended a community garden at Embury Apartments. She also loved color, especially the color red. Irma's favorite food was chocolate ice cream, which she would ask for often!
Irma's passion in life was her service to her church. Irma was a proud member of The First United Methodist Church in Delmar and the Galway United Methodist Church. She was one of the founding members of Delmar's Mary Marthas and the Delmar's Church Thrift Shop up until her fall the summer of 2013. Irma was also a member of Sebastian Methodist Church in Florida where she also worked in the office. She was a longtime volunteer for the Tri-Village Directory, at which she worked tirelessly. Most recently she devoted her time to coordinating the dining room help at Embury apartments where she had resided for the last 20 years.
Irma's family would like to thank the caring staff of Wesley Health Care; a very special thank you to Rachael, Peggy, Lila, George and all the staff of second floor Springs, for all their love and compassion.
Calling hours will be on Saturday, December 12, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar and a memorial service will be held immediately following. Interment will follow at the Onesquethaw Cemetery.
