Inga M. May

DELMAR - Inga M. May, 96, passed on to her Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2015. Born October 7, 1918 in Stockholm, Sweden to Theodore and Ruby (Gustafson) Mord, she came to America with her family when she was six years old and spent her early years on Long Island. After residing in East Rockaway, Inga and her husband, Russ moved upstate to Hillsdale, NY in 1955. They were longtime members of the Hillsdale Methodist Church, where Inga served as president of the Women's Circle and assisted with the Food Pantry, and was an officer in the local Grange. She worked for many years as a secretary in an insurance office. Inga was a wonderful baker and collector of cookbooks. She will be remembered for her ready smile and easy laugh. Most recently, Inga resided at Kenwood Manor at Good Samaritan Village and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan M. Haswell and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Inga was predeceased by her husband, Russell B. May, Jr.; brother, Lars Mord; sister, Iris Combs; and son-in-law George S. Haswell, III. The family would like to especially thank the nurses and doctors at Albany Medical Center, especially the very caring nurse Katherine on E-5, and the ICU staff. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 13th from 9 am to 11 am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. A funeral service will follow at 11 am at the church. A calling hour will also be held at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Rt. 22, Copake on Wednesday, January 14th from 10 to 11 am with a service to follow at 11am. Burial will be in Hillsdale Rural Cemetery in the spring.
