DELMAR - Guy Ricci, Sr. died April 2, 2014 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Guy was born December 14, 1922 in Mamaroneck, NY to Luigi and Pasqualina Ricci. He graduated from Rye Neck High School in 1940, and attended classes at the Westchester Commercial School, located in New Rochelle, NY. Guy also attended the Cartoonists and Illustrators School, now known as the School of Visual Arts.
Guy was a World War II Veteran and proudly served in the US Army in North Africa and Italy, participating in the Rome-Arno campaign. Guy was married November 8, 1945 to Gina Sorrentino.
Guy was employed by the federal government for 37 years, working for the US Army, US Air Force, the Atomic Energy Commission and the General Services Administration (GSA). He finished his career at GSA, where he served as Regional Commissioner of the GSA's regional National Archives and Records Services. Guy lived in Mamaroneck, NY until 1984, when he and his wife relocated to Delmar.
Guy's hobbies included reading, drawing and cartooning, and studying history, especially the history of the European theater of World War II. Guy cherished and enjoyed the 68 years he spent with his wife, Gina. Guy was a parishioner at St. Thomas Church in Delmar.
Survivors include his children, Diana (Robert) Lenzi of North Charleston, SC; Guy (Stephanie) Ricci, Jr of Delmar, NY; Marianne (Vincent) Adamo of Monroe, CT and Rita Ricci of Colonie, NY. Guy is also survived by eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and by his brothers Anthony Ricci of Mamaroneck, NY and Philip Ricci of Florida. Guy was predeceased by his wife, Gina Ricci, his daughter, Laura Ricci and his brothers Carmine, John and Vincent.
Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar, with a funeral mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 9:00 AM. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
