DELMAR - Gladys M. Histed, 89, died Friday, October 11, 2013 in her home with family.
Born in Clifton Park, Gladys (Englemore) moved to Delmar in 1944 when she married Edgar Histed.
She and her husband were owners of many businesses in Delmar including her beauty shop, The House of Charm.
Gladys split her retirement years between Crystal River, FL, Schroon Lake and Delmar. She loved gardening, baking, and most of all, spending time with family. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years and survived by her sons Brent (Christine) Histed, Gary (Paula) Histed and daughter Sandra (Craig) Miller, her grandchildren, Bill Histed, Lynn (Scott) Brennan, Kent Histed, Garrett (Jill) Histed, Dana (Mike) Bienvenue, David Miller, and Matthew Miller, as well as great-grandchildren Logan, Ethan, Carson, Brandon, and Ashley and her sister Ruth Peck.
The family would like to thank Sarah, Amber, Brenda, Hillary and the Hospice staff for their loving care and a special thank you to her grandson Kent who made it possible for her to remain at home.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 15 from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. Funeral services will begin at 10 am on Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a burial at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Delmar.
