DELMAR - Gail M. Dwyer, 78, of Delmar, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her home on March 15, 2016, with her loving husband by her side. Gail was born on August 18, 1937, in Albany, the daughter of the late James F. and Phoebe Finn. Gail grew up in Albany, attending St. James Grammar school and the Vincentian Institute. She studied at Potsdam College where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education. Gail went on to work for nearly ten years as a Teacher for the Albany School District, but eventually moved into her life-long career as home-maker, care-giver and mentor to her numerous children, grandchildren and their families. Gail was the rock and matriarch of her family and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Gail is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Michael Dwyer, sons John Dwyer (Kathy) of Schenectady, Thomas Dwyer (Heather) of Delmar, Chris Dwyer of Albany, James Dwyer of Albany, Timothy Dwyer (Loret) of Troy, Terrence Dwyer (Ann-Marie) of Virginia, daughter Tracy Wheeler (Ray) of Buffalo, sister Diana McFerran of Albany; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, In-laws, nieces and nephews. Gail is predeceased by her son Michael Dwyer (Helen) of Hawaii.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Hayes at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
