DELMAR - Berrington, Floyd, J – The family of Floyd Joseph Berrington, 81, announces with deep sadness his passing on March 30, 2015 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn. Floyd was born on May 24, 1933, the son of the late Joseph and Martha (Woodcraft) Berrington.
He Graduated from Albany High and later served in United States Army and in the Unites States Army Band as a trumpeter. Floyd worked for Albany Steel and retired from Arcadia Supply in Albany, NY, as an estimator. Floyd was a lifelong trumpet player, who had a love for music and enjoyed marching in the Cyprus Shrine Band and countless parades. He dedicated more than 50 years as a Mason. Floyd was an active member St Georges Lodge, Schenectady, NY; Cyprus Shrine in Glenmont, NY; and the Royal Order of Jesters.
He was a huge and loyal fan of New York Yankees, New York Giants, and Syracuse University. However, nothing compared to the love and dedication he had for his family.
Loving husband of Josina (Jo) Maguire Berrington; beloved father of Rebecca (Adam) Edwards of Altamont, NY., Robert B. Berrington (Ann Lombardo) of Albany, NY,. devoted and proud grandfather (Papa) of Thomas and Olivia Berrington and Danilella Bertrand; brother of late Ethel June and Benjamin Coughlin; brother-in-law of Robert Sr. and Kathy MaGuire of Albany, NY; uncle of Robert Maguire Jr., Tammy (Chuck) Cassaro, Christine and Robert Tanner; great-nephews; many extended family members in England; and cherished close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave. Delmar on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 4 to 8pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 3rd at 1:30pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar.
