DELMAR- Estelle S. Northrup, 92, of Selkirk died Saturday, March 7th surrounded by her loving family. Estelle was born on May 19, 1922 in Ravena and graduated from Ravena High School at age 16. She retired from Conrail after many years of proud service. Estelle was most happy when she was surrounded by her family and friends. Summer clambakes, trips to her niece's home in Cape Cod, wintering in Florida, and having her family together during the holidays and for Sunday dinners brought her her greatest joy. She loved baking. Her world class six layer cookies, Texas pie, and Polish bread brought smiles to all who had them.
Estelle was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Arnold D. Northrup, and her second husband, Charles V. Waggoner. Her son, Daniel A. Northrup, also predeceased her.
She is survived by her sons, Randall of Jacksonville, FL and Dennis of Selkirk; eight grandchildren, Leah McElroy, Daniel Northrup, Jr., Barbara Esmond, David, Kevin, Brian, Jessica and Joshua Northrup; four great grandchildren; and her sisters, Helen Benedetto of Delmar and Elaine Delanoy of Selkirk, who were her best friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Wednesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
