Eloise M. Woods

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Eloise McGuirk Woods, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Saratoga Springs, NY on December 12th, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Earl J. McGuirk and Margaret Bashwinger McGuirk. Eloise was born in Delmar on March 21, 1929. She attended Bethlehem Central High School. After graduation she attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Amsterdam, NY. She practiced nursing at Albany Medical Center Hospital as a private duty RN for many years. She continued her education and earned a BSN from Empire State College. She then began a career with NYS OMRDD where she was employed until her retirement. Eloise enjoyed swimming, skiing, her animals, Broadway shows, travel, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Debbie Greenfield (Carson Leonard) of Slingerlands, Sherry Martinez (Larry) of Parker, CO and Karen Woods of Saratoga Springs; her seven grandchildren, Conor Hughes, Jennifer Greenfield, Sara Greenfield, Stefan Martinez, William Martinez, Julia Ricciardi, and Maggie Ricciardi; and two great grandchildren, Cameron Powers and Cailey Hughes. Special thanks and gratitude to Saratoga Community Hospice and especially to Karen Murdick for the care and support she provided to Eloise and her family and to Home Instead for their many years of compassionate companionship. Calling hours will be held at Applebee Funeral Home , 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar on Tuesday, December 29th from 5 to 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar on Wednesday, December 30th at 9:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Saratoga Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
