SLINGERLANDS - Ellen Mirabile, 72, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 5th at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Sadie Lohre. Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 2008.
A homemaker for most of her life Ellen graduated from Columbia High School and soon thereafter met the love of her life, Joseph. Together they raised four sons, Timothy (Tammie), Charles (Melissa), Joseph (Linda), and Michael (Laura).
In addition to her children and their wives Ellen is survived by her cherished grandchildren Maxwell, Sadey, Casey, Christina, and Jesse.
Additional survivors include her adored nieces and nephews Laura Page Sasiadek, Deidre Kozlowsk, Jonathan Phibbs, Marcus and Phillip Lohre, her brother-in-law David Phibbs, her special "furry friends" Rascal, Cutie, and Taz, and Charles' close companion Melanie White.
Among the best of cooks her lavish home cooked meals will remain forever etched in our memories - and the taste of her meatballs and cutlets will never leave us.
Ellen's family would especially like to thank her neighbors, especially Christine Kenefick for being a true friend and caregiver - for this we will be eternally grateful. Ellen was a communicant of Mater Christi Parish and the family would also like to thank Father Doyle for his presence and compassion during her time of need.
A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Ellen's life will be held at the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany on Friday, May 18th at 9 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Calling hours will be held at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar on Thursday, May 17th from 4 to 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Albany, NY 12211 or the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
