Ella E. Craft

YORK, PA - Ella Elizabeth "Beth" Craft, 95, formerly of Delmar, NY, died at York, PA Hospital on July 4, 2016. She was the wife of Girard J. Craft, M.D. with whom she observed their 72nd wedding anniversary in December of 2015. Born November 30, 1920 in Asbury, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Cord Christopher and Ella Elizabeth (Graumman) Martens. Beth completed nursing school in 1942 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in New York City and later retired as a Registered Nurse. She was extremely proud to have worked for the Henry Street Settlement in New York. Beth was an avid golfer, an accomplished artist and a worldwide traveler. More important to those close to her, she was a magnificent friend, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She maintained a long-term and dedicated affiliation with Albany Medical Center, Albany Institute of History and Art, and Albany Country Club. In addition to her husband, Beth is survived by three sons, Bryan G. Craft of Bennington, VT, Glenn D. Craft and his wife, Cheryl of Bloomington, MN and Randall R. Craft and his wife, Debra of Northport, FL; a daughter, Pamela C. Catalano and her husband, Vincent of Spring Grove, PA ; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on July 9, 2016 in York, PA where Beth and Gerry had moved within the past year. For the past 50 years they were residents of Delmar and a visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27 at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A private interment will be conducted the following day.
