Elizabeth Ann Pauquette

1929 — March 4, 2017

Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Pauquette entered into eternal life on March 4, 2017. Born August 18, 1929 in Albany to the late Andrew and Regina (Scheidel) Busch she was a proud 1947 graduate of the former Schuyler High School. She married her beloved husband Joseph Pauquette on May 11, 1957 and together were long-time residents of Glenmont, later relocating in retirement to New Smyrna Beach. In addition to her husband, Betty is also survived by her son Michael Pauquette, daughter in-law Robin Pauquette, grandsons Bryan (Kate Oliva) Pauquette and Sean Pauquette, brothers and sisters in-law Joseph Carmello, Pauline Grottoli, Peggy and Thomas Fennell, Bill and Lynn Pauquette as well as many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her siblings Jane (George) Arnold, Andrew (Ann) Busch and Carol (Joseph) Carmello. Betty enjoyed a happy and busy life with family, many friends and interesting work experiences. She was an avid bridge player and spent countless hours on the golf course, including membership at Normanside Country Club in Delmar, where she recorded two holes in one, and New Smyrna Beach Golf Club. Betty loved to knit, crochet and sew, especially for family. She also enjoyed playing games, Rummikub was a favorite, music, dancing and all family gatherings, including summer vacations with her sister Carol’s family, hosting Christmas parties and Easter and Thanksgiving with her in-laws. She was often the “life of the party”. She also enjoyed shopping, always in pursuit of a bargain. Mostly, she treasured being Nanny and any time spent with her grandsons, the joy of her life. A natural saleswoman, Betty sold everything from classified ads, to diaper service (as “Ms. Clarke”), to leather coats during her working years. Her annual garage sale was legendary. Her favorite phrase, “It only takes one.”, when asked about prospective buyers of any item. A loving wife, mother and grandmother; a dear friend too many, she will be missed greatly by all. Calling hours will be held at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave, Delmar on Friday, March 31 from 5 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Historic St. Mary’s Church on Capitol Hill, 10 Lodge St, Albany on Saturday April 1 at 9:30am. Entombment will immediately follow at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
