CLARKSVILLE - Elizabeth (Betty) Tierney Hansen, 85, of Clarksville, died on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at her home. She was the daughter of the late James and Lillian (Sheridan) Tierney of Albany. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 43 years Harry R. Hansen, of Clarksville, in 1996 She is survived by a son, James (Toni) of Albany, and three daughters: Laura Hickson of Manchester, CT, Erin Hansen of Feura Bush and Maureen Lyons (Bruce) of Clarksville, as well as five grandchildren: Robert and James Hickson of Manchester, Olivia and Ethan Hansen of Albany, and Sheridan Lyons of Clarksville. Also survived by a nephew and several nieces, including niece and long-time friend, Judith Pisarski. Betty leaves behind a step-daughter, Andrea Hansen of Brooklyn and a step grandson, Dimitri Detsarides, also of Brooklyn. She was a member of the Albany Writers Group for 23 years and former facilitator for the group. Some of her poetry and prose was published by the small literary magazines in the 80's and 90's. A short story appeared on-line in the spring issue of "Mobius". Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave. Delmar, Thursday from 4 to 7pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10am in Onesquethaw Cemetery, Clarksville. Rather than flowers the family requests contributions may be made to the Rescue Squad of Onesquethaw Volunteer Fire Co. P.O. Box E, Clarksville, NY 12041
