DELMAR- Eleanore C. Marks of Delmar passed away June 4, 2015 shortly following her 90th birthday after a long illness. She was born in Patchogue on Long Island on May 18, 1925 to Ernest W. Case, Sr. and Helen Silliman Case. Her only sibling ESN Ernest W. Case, Jr., a US Navy fighter pilot, died in the Philippines during World War II. Eleanore graduated valedictorian of her Patchogue High School class of 1942. She interrupted her college education during the war to work as a riveter at Grumman Aircraft in Bethpage .
Eleanore met Henry F. Marks while they attended Rider College in Trenton, NJ. Following graduation they moved to Delmar to be halfway between both sets of parents. There they built their house on Roweland Avenue with their own hands and raised three children. Henry predeceased her in 2005 and daughter Cynthia in 1999. Eleanore is survived by Cheryl (Ray) Stees, Ballston Lake and Thomas (Wendy) Marks, Delmar. In addition she has three grandsons, Gregory Stees of West Hollywood, CA, Eric Stees of Santa Barbara, CA and Matt He of Delmar.
Eleanore was a proficient typist and enjoyed taking notes in shorthand until the very end. Manpower named her Secretary of the Year in 1982. Eleanore and Henry delivered Meals on Wheels in Delmar and were often seen riding around in their restored Model A. They were both 50 year members of the First United Methodist Church of Delmar.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
