GLENMONT - Edward Green, 86, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital.
Ed was the husband of Carol (Terko) Green, and was predeceased by his brother, William and sisters, Shirley Bowmaker and Clarissa J. Donovan. Ed was born in Albany in 1924, and, following his graduation from C.B.A., enlisted in the Navy in 1943 as a Naval Aviator, earning his wings as a Corsair pilot. After the war, Ed attended Siena College on the G.I. Bill, and soon after landed in Binghamton working for the American Cement Co. for many years. Later times found him back in Albany for a second career with New York State in the Dept. of State agency. Having played trombone while at C.B.A., Ed continued for many years to play with local groups whenever he could, both in Binghamton and Albany. Ed and Carol were married in 1983, and after his retirement in 1987, they spent many winters in their second home in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; step-children, John Terko and Jill (Terko) Wooson; and step-grandchildren, Adam, Leah, and Hazen, along with a large extended family.
It was Ed's wish that his body be donated to the Albany Medical College. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 21st at 10 AM at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar, followed by a gathering at Martel's Restaurant at the New Albany Golf Course, New Scotland Ave, Albany.
