SELKIRK- Edna Patterson Weisheit, 95, passed away on peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2014 after a long illness. She was born in Jersey City, NJ on August 9, 1919 but moved with her parents Florence and Arthur (Covart) Patterson and younger sister Lorraine to the Capital District when she was a toddler. Mrs. Weisheit graduated from Coeymans High School and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. As a young woman she was an accomplished equestrian and loved to roam the South Bethlehem area on her horse Ranger. In later life she was an avid gardener and vibrant member of the East Greenbush and Niskayuna Garden Clubs.
She was married for 51 years to the Dr. Henry C. Weisheit, a veterinarian who predeceased her in 1992. She is survived by her four children, Henry Jr., Dianne (Louis) Olenick, Robert (Deborah) and Kathy (Jerre) Griffin, her grandchildren David, Lianne and Matthew, sisters Gloria (John) LaForte and Hazel VanWormer and scores of devoted nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 10am in the First Reformed Church of Bethlehem, Selkirk. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Selkirk. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm in the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.
