GUILDERLAND, NY - Dorothy Marie McCormick, 93, passed away peacefully on January 2 at Our Lady of Mercy Care in Guilderland. She was until recently a long-time resident of Lynchburg, Virginia.
Dorothy was the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Dittman) Woidtke, and the wife of 40 years of the late John McCormick. She was a talented miniaturist, winning awards for her dollhouses and dioramas, which were frequently displayed in shopping malls in Virginia. Dorothy was a devoted member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church in Lynchburg.
She is survived by her half-sister, Marilyn Fisher, Pinellas Park, FL; cousin, Beatrice Stanczak, Sun City West, AZ; nieces, Sandra Ceja and Tina Cleveland; nephews, Joel Woidtke, Felix Woidtke and Bob Woidtke, all of California, and four stepchildren, Susan Morse, Albany, NY, Nancy McCormick and Jeanette McCormick, Syracuse, NY and Howard McCormick, Roanoke.
The family is grateful for the excellent care at Heritage Green in Lynchburg, Our Lady of Mercy Care Life Center in Guilderland, and The Community Hospice of Albany County.
Services will be private and interment will be in Lynchburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar, NY 12054 (518) 439-2715.
