Dorothy Leslie Bryant, née Bradley, joined her husband, Eugene Bryant Jr., in heaven on February 5, 2024. Dorothy was known for her kindness, strength, intelligence, passion for music, love for her family, beautiful voice, and generosity.
Dorothy was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 6, 1932. She received her undergraduate degree in English from New York University and a Master’s Degree in English from the University of Rhode Island. She married the love of her life, Eugene Bryant Jr., in 1954 in New York. Before embracing her role as a full-time wife and mother, she worked in sales and as a teacher. She dedicated herself to her family and nurtured the individual interests of her three children and the granddaughter she and Eugene reared as their own.
Deeply passionate about music, Dorothy served in various roles for the Empire State Youth Orchestra (ESYO), including spending several years as president.
Even in her final years, people that knew her continually extolled Dorothy’s beautiful singing voice, unfailing kindness, and gratitude. Dorothy’s beautiful soul never failed to shine through.
Dorothy is survived by three children (Leslie Bryant, Christopher Bryant, and Meridith Bryant), three grandchildren (Chanda Brown, Renee Rattigan, and Samantha Bryant) and two great-grandchildren.
A small memorial service in celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at Applebee Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2:00pm.
