DELMAR - Dorothea A. Gagner, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Teresian House after a brief illness.
Born in Albany on August 23, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Romeo and Catherine (Murphy) Gagner. Dot graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1951. She was a longtime Delmar resident and worked for the NYS Thruway Authority before relocating with her sisters to West Yarmouth, MA on Cape Cod. Prior to her retirement, Dot was employed with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) in Yarmouth Port for 15 years, retiring in 1998. She was a longtime communicant of both St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar, and St. Pius X Church in South Yarmouth where she and her two sisters were active members of the Catholic Women's Club.
She is survived by her niece, Therese K. Gagner and her sister-in-law Carol A. Gagner, both of Delmar. In addition to her parents Dot was predeceased by her siblings, Rita Gagner, Anastasia Gagner and Edward Gagner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Monday, November 28 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar. Burial will follow the mass at St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton, MA. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
