DELMAR, NY - Doris B. Arnold died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 19, 2012.
Born in Newfane, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Adda (Dowding) Brandt. Doris completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and received her Master's from the Teacher's College at Columbia University. Over the course of her career, she taught high school English and Latin at Newfane, Randolph, and Irondequoit Central schools.
Doris was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albany, NY where she was founder of the church gift shop, "The Shop." She had been a member of the Bethlehem Garden Club. Doris loved to play Yahtzee and bridge, and travel with her family. She enjoyed Sunday family dinners on the porch in the summer and by the fire in the winter.
In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, A. Buell Arnold, twin daughters, a brother and a grandson. Survivors include her son, Leigh B. Arnold of Clifton Park, NY and two granddaughters, Nicki Arnold of NYC and Kimberly Arnold of Clifton Park.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Thursday at 7:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, corner of Lark and Lancaster Sts., Albany. Friends and family are also invited to attend the committal service, which will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday at Corwin Cemetery in Newfane, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 235 Lark St., Albany, NY 12210 or to a charity of ones choice.
