DELMAR - Dominick P. Tocci, 77, of Delmar passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.
Born in Utica on July 1, 1934, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Rose (Lovaglio) Tocci. Dominick was a graduate of Proctor High School in Utica, Hamilton College and Syracuse University Law School. He began his law practice in Gloversville where he also served as assistant city judge. Later he was a founding partner of Tocci, Parker and Tocci in Albany. Throughout his career, Dominick worked tirelessly to protect the rights and benefits of union members and working people. For this he received numerous awards and accolades. He was highly respected among clients, colleagues and members of the legal community for his integrity and exceptional intellect. Dominick had served as panel arbitrator for the New York State Mediation Board and American Arbitration Association. He had also been an instructor for the Cornell University School of Labor Relations.
Dominick was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. His wife, Celia (Zizzi) Tocci predeceased him on December 7, 2007. He is survived by two daughters, Charmaine Veldhuis (Don) and Jennifer O'Neil (David); a son, Richard Tocci (Robin); grandchildren, Justin and Jeremy Veldhuis, Kelsey and Kevin O'Neil and Alex Tocci; special family friend, Monte Vacarelli; brothers, Ronald Tocci (Cathy) and Joseph Tocci (Marianne) and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. A special thanks to his aide, Tara, for her loving care and friendship.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Monday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
