DELMAR – David H. Baim passed away on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at the Albany VA Medical Center.
David was born in Easton, PA, the only child of W. Harvey and Ruth Baim. The Baim family moved to Albany when Harvey went to work for the Knickerbocker News. Dave attended School #16 and the Milne School. He continued his education at Pennsylvania Military College and received his Masters from Central Michigan.
After college, Dave served in the Army for twenty years. To highlight his career, he served two tours in Vietnam, was awarded two bronze stars and retired as a Major. He then spent twenty years working at the Watervliet Arsenal.
Dave had many interests. He was a Master Gardener, a bee keeper, an apple grower, a sports fan and a bird watcher. He was known for being a snappy dresser and for his friendly sense of humor.
David is survived by his wife, Joan Parry Baim; children, David L. Baim and Penelope Block (Tyler); step children Tim Talmage (Ricky) and Katrina Clay (Trent) and grandchildren Armory and Arabella Block and Owen, Lilly and Hugh Talmage.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Albany VA Medical Center for their loving care and continued kindness.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, Oct. 19th from 4 to 6 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar and are welcome to remain for a service at 6 pm at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be 12 noon Friday, Oct. 20th at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Red Cross of Northeastern NY, 33 Everett Road, Albany, NY 12205 for hurricane relief would honor Dave's memory.
