David John Avery

1958 — June 1, 2021

We mourn the passing of our beloved husband, father, step father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, David John Avery who slipped away too early on June 1, 2021 at the age of 63.

Dave was a graduate of Siena College and retired after a long career as a computer programmer with the State of New York.  He was one of a kind, whose warmth, humor and generosity touched everyone who knew and loved him.  He was a true Grateful Dead aficionado.  He knew the live and studio version of every song and attended numerous concerts across the country.  He was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed playoff hockey.  An avid fisherman, Dave loved spending time at the family camp on Lake Ontario fishing for salmon or bass, or relaxing with a beer and cigar looking out over the lake surrounded by his family.  He loved to cook and make things.  He knew every Three Stooges line and could recite dialogue from movies he liked.  He loved his dog Einstein who loved him back unconditionally.  He loved his family fiercely and was a loyal true friend.  He will be missed.

Dave is survived by his wife Lisa, his daughters Chelsea (Rocco) and Amber (Kevin); his step children Andrew, Kyle (Jason), Julianna and Cynthia; his grandchildren Naomi, Rocco, Violet and Aria; his brother Mark (Mary); his niece Roberta (Erik) and his lifelong best friends Thomas and Frank.  He is predeceased by his father Robert, his mother Doris and his sister Roberta.
