Daniel Fulton Malone, 72, of Glenmont, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Daniel was born in Troy, NY on November 30, 1950, the son of the late Daniel F. and Edith (Reilly) Malone. After graduating from Troy High School in 1968, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy as a signalman during the Vietnam War. After serving, he would go on to work for New York State where he would meet his wife. Together they started a family in Guilderland, NY and lived there for 40 years.
Dan had a long career with the state government and would retire as a Director from the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance. This is also where he would meet his best friend Jack Engel. They would remain friends for life, and Dan considered Jack's wife Toni, and their children Joshua and Natasha as his family as well. He would later move to Glenmont, NY after retiring to be closer to his only child and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ronnie M. (Allen) Malone; and his son, Daniel A. Malone, wife, Stephanie (Harvilla), and their children, Olivia (9), Harvey (6) and Violet (2.5). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, James and Janice (Carroll) Malone.
He cared most about providing a good life for his family and friends. He enjoyed nothing more than sharing in and bragging about the successes of his only son. He was proud that his son earned a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the Albany College of Pharmacy. He was also ecstatic to find out that his son was going to marry Stephanie who is also a graduate of Albany College of Pharmacy. He wanted nothing more than to see his son Dan happy and successful. He relished being the only living grandpa to his three grandchildren. In his free time he enjoyed charring a good steak, black coffee, landscaping his lawn, watching the Yankees, and taking care of his family's dogs and cats; most recently the family dog, Cooper (13), who already misses him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation in Dan’s memory on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.
