DELMAR – Dan L. Lowenski, 62, of Delmar passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Henry and Irma (Van Ardsdale) Lowenski. A graduate of SCCC and SUNY Buffalo, Dan was retired from the Gloversville Police Dept. In his professional career, he was NYS Disaster Liaison for American Red Cross and Bioterrorism Coordinator at NYSDOH. He served as Director of Environmental Health and Safety for AMRI, Inc. and was a certified federal and state emergency management instructor. He owned and operated E.T.T.G. providing planning and training services to government and industry.
In a volunteer capacity, Dan was Radiological and HAZMAT Officer for the Fulton Co. Civil Defense, a CBRNE Specialist with Town of Bethlehem Emergency Management Office, chairman of the Albany Co. LEPC, and a Paranormal Investigator. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Bible Study Group member and assisted with RCIA. Dan was a self-taught chef and enjoyed sharing his talents with family and friends. He was also a 3rd degree mason of the Wadsworth Lodge #417, F.&A.M.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; son, Paul; brother, Henry, Jr. (Linda); nephew, Michael; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, August 28th from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave, Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 29th at 9:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
