BETHLEHEM – Corinne R. Carlson, 95, of Glenmont died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Eddy Village Green, Cohoes.
Born and raised in Buffalo, Erie County, she graduated from New York State Teachers College (Buffalo State) and began her teaching career in western New York. Moving to the Albany area in 1948, Corinne continued teaching in Rensselaer County school systems. During this period, she operated Corinne's Custom Clothes, creating tailored suits and hats for women. In 1960, she received a Master of Science degree in Education from the College of Saint Rose in Albany.
As the end of Corinne's 30 year career in education neared, she pursued an interest in antiques. She was a long time exhibitor in the New York, New England and Pennsylvania antique show circuit. Corinne also owned and operated the 1830's House Antique Shop in Yarmouthport, MA for over 20 years.
Mrs. Carlson was a past president of the Albany branch of the American Association of University Women (A.A.U.W.). She was also a past president of the Alpha Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, past vice-president of the Easter District of the NYS Home Economics Association and past president of the Schodack Central Teachers Association.
Corinne was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Elliott A. Carlson, and is survived by her son Eric A. Carlson of Canyon Lake, CA.
There will be no funeral service. Friends will be received Saturday from 1 to 3 pm at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.
