SLINGERLANDS – Christine Bentzen, 89, passed away peacefully January 13, 2015 at Eddy Village Green. Born in Brooklyn, she lived and worked in New York City as a benefits supervisor for B. Altman & Co. on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, a city that she loved. She moved to Delmar twelve years ago to be near her sister and family. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteer work, most recently with the Bethlehem Senior Services.
Her greatest joys were anything about Manhattan, traveling, spending time with her friends, and devoting her time and love to her family. Affectionately known as "Cickie" by her family, her love of life will be missed.
Survivors include her sister, Sigrid Braaten; nephews Jack (Nancy) Braaten, David (Gabi) Braaten, and niece Anne (Steve) Cluett. Also great nephews and nieces, Dan Braaten, Matt (Angela) Braaten, Scott (Alexandra) Braaten, Kara Braaten, Megan (Jonathan) Fenson, Niels Braaten, Rachel Cluett, Christopher Cluett, Allison Cluett, and great, great niece Ella Braaten, She was predeceased by nephew, Peter Braaten.
