SCHENECTADY – Charles E. Hotaling, Sr., 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy with his family at his side.
Born in Albany, Chuck was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School and honorably served his country in the Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970. He was retired from Hannaford and previously worked many years at Grand Union until its closure. Chuck's passions were golfing, bowling, country music, dancing, hunting, fishing, the Steelers and his Ford F150. He enjoyed immensely attending the Travelers PGA golf tournament in Conn. with his sons in July, and a week of golf in Myrtle Beach with his brother, Dan and cousins, Tom and Ken in June.
He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Hotaling; sons, Charles Hotaling, Jr. (Tina) and Chad Hotaling (Rachel); grandchildren, Josh, Abbey, Julia and Alex; siblings, Daniel Hotaling, Glenn Hotaling (June), Marilyn Whitbeck, Roger Hotaling (Nancy), Beverly Gregory (Peter), Jeffrey Hotaling, Wesley Hotaling (Roberta), Ed Hotaling (Pam) and Paul Hotaling; dear companion, Joan Hotaling and her daughter, Wendy Westphal and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Edwin C. Hotaling, and a brother, Richard Hotaling.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, Aug. 30th from 9 am to 12 noon at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, Center for Disability Services or the Highway Tabernacle A.G. of Mechanicville.
