FEURA BUSH - Charles "C" Gonzales, born June 17, 1926 to Eloy and Nieves Gonzalez, died at home after a long illness on August 6, 2015.
Born in Amsterdam NY and raised in NYC, he relocated to upstate NY by the time he was 30. As a young man Charles began his long love affair with sports, participating in baseball, basketball and the Golden Gloves. He turned his interest to golf in his later years and continued to play long after his retirement. He also coached both his sons through their little league years. Charles was also a wonderful artist; he loved oil painting and sculpting. His other hobbies included history, movies and music.
After graduating from high school in 1944, Charles enlisted in the Navy, where he served in the Pacific. After coming home and moving to the Albany area he met his soon to be wife, Beryl Marie Hill. Charles worked as a house painter before landing a job with the US Postal Service as a mail carrier, where he worked for 19 years never missing a day.
Charles is survived by his two sons, Christopher and Jeffrey (Carmela) and his sister, Mary, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of many years in 2005.
Visitation will be held at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave, Delmar on Monday, August 10th from 4 to 6 pm, followed by a service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jerusalem Reformed Church in Feura Bush, NY or the Human Fund.
