Bradford Cole

DELMAR - Bradford E. Cole passed peacefully to his heavenly reward on August 12, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn. Born in Hartford, CT on July 28, 1928, he was the youngest child of the late Garold and Ethel Cole. He leaves behind his brother Watson and was also a brother to Clement, Norman, Lois, Dorothy and Betty who are all deceased. He was a loving husband for over 50 years to the love of his life Harriet (Saunders) Cole. Together they had three children, Garold (Patty), Cindy Sapara (Frank) and Dean. He loved his five grandchildren, Andrew and Bryce Cole along with Michelle Stalzkowski, Kevin Sapara and Pamela Gruber. In addition, he had six great grandchildren. After graduating from East Hartford High School, Brad attended the University of Connecticut. He began his working years as a dispatcher and a clerk with the Connecticut State Police from 1946-1949. He then spent over 40 years with various railroads including the New York Central, New Haven in Hartford, Penn Central and finally Conrail where he rose to the position of manager of labor relations. Upon his retirement Brad returned to school at Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady and became a practicing L.P.N. Brad was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and will be missed by his family and many friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held 9:30 am Friday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 16 Elsmere Ave., Delmar. Interment will be held at 1:45 pm Friday in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill, CT. Rather than sending flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Peter's Hospice Inn, 315 So. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
