Beverly R. Reed

DELMAR – Beverly Ruth Reed (Kelly) of Delmar, died on Friday, May 29, 2015. Born in Long Beach, California, she was the beloved daughter of the late Harley Kelly and Irma Nina Kelly (Kerner). Beverly was the beloved wife for 50 years of the late Dr. Robert Dale Reed. Beverly was the loving mother of Jeri Lyn (David Serosky) Gilchrest-Serosky of New Baltimore, NY; Sandy (Glen) Edwards of West Sand Lake, NY; and Julie Chamulak of Schenectady, NY; cherished grandmother of Travis Edwards, Ryan Edwards, Andrew Kent Gilchrest and Connor Chamulak. Bev graduated from Jordan High School in Southern California in 1954. She received her Associates Degree from Long Beach Community College. In addition to being a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, Bev worked various jobs including Manager at Bank of America in California; volunteering her time at her children’s schools, Office Manager at Graceland Cemetery and Secretary for the Bethlehem Youth Employment Service. Bev had many passions: when her children were younger she would sew clothes and make crafts. She loved to read books and do jigsaw puzzles and word puzzles. She loved music, enjoyed going to the movies and going out to lunch and dinner; and she enjoyed spending time with her husband at the Bethlehem Sportsman’s Club fishing and shooting. Bev loved animals, especially her cats. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar on Thursday, June 4th from 4 to 7 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 5th at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at St. Peter’s Hospital 5 Brady-Farrell and Hospice Inn for the love, care and comfort given to our mother. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to the St. Peter’s Hospice Inn, 315 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208; or Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204 in her memory.
