Bernard J. McHugh

Bernard J. McHugh, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. An Albany native, he was a graduate of Cathedral Academy and Siena College. Bernard honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and later in the National Guard. He worked in the Investment Division of The State Bank of NY, NYS Corporation Tax Bureau, and retired from the NYS Thruway Authority as the Director of Finance. Mr. McHugh was an avid golfer and served on the Board of Directors of Normanside Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dawne V. McHugh; daughters, Gail Douglas (Ken), Barbara Lasnik (Stuart) and Kathleen McHugh; son, Bernard J. McHugh (Kim); grandchildren, Dawne Helligrass, Kevin Hazzard, Brendan and Kyle McHugh, Anthony, Amy, Alex and Alicia Lasnik; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Bernard was predeceased by a daughter, Kyle Anne McHugh; son, William Michael McHugh; sister, Harriet Bartolucci; and granddaughter, Jacqueline E. McHugh. A private funeral mass for immediate family will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar.
