DELMAR: Barbara A. Reuter
Barbara A. Reuter, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Albany Medical Center from a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Ron, to whom she had been married for 42 years, and her son Matt. She was far from alone in this fight.
She was born in Lebanon, NH, on September 7, 1947, and she survived both her father Albert and mother Marjorie. Following her graduation from Champlain College in 1967, she moved to Albany and began her work as a medical secretary at the Veterans Administration where she met her long-time friend Sandra Meade. Following her work at the VA, she transitioned to a new role as Assistant to Dean Friedlander at Albany Medical College where she worked for a 20 year span, a role she assumed intuitively and with a non-self-important character. Later she moved on to work for Einhorn Yaffee Prescott from 1994 to present expanding on her administrative career as an executive assistant and in the domain of facility security management and government contracting.
Mom was a committed and selfless wife, mother and friend to many, she sowed peace and love in the face of adversity, devoted years of consistent loyal service and expertise to her employers, however she was never able to enjoy the riches of her retirement and to this we are profoundly sorry and her friends and family will forever hold her dear. We shall be forever inspired by her selfless example and the quiet kindness which she bestowed to us all. Please teach us to be more like you, Mom.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 9:30 am at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, Delmar. Friends may call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar on Tuesday, March 20 from 4 to 7 pm. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar.
