Barbara A. Patterson

1937 — April 5, 2015

Barbara Anne (Linton) Patterson, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, died on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany at age 77. Born December 13, 1937 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Virginia Almena Linton of Delmar and of Ainsley Moore Linton, originally of Stockton-on-Tees, England. She is survived by her brother, Charles R.A. Linton, of Guilderland; her sons Mark A. Patterson, of Washington, DC and Keith M. Patterson, of Takoma Park, MD; and her granddaughters Margaret V. Patterson, Alice E. Patterson and Maybelle J. Patterson. She was a proud graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls and later worked as a sales manager at the Bell Telephone Company in Wildwood, NJ and in Albany. Later in life she also worked as a dental assistant in Delmar; at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany; and at the Bethlehem Public Library. She devoted the bulk of her recent years to the loving care of her revered mother Virginia, who died in October 2014 at age 102. She also took special joy in her three granddaughters, whom she adored. Her family will cherish her memory and admire her ability to always hold fast to her dreams. Interment will be at Bethlehem Cemetery on Saturday, April 11th at 9:30 a.m. A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at Normanside Country Club, 150 Salisbury Road, Delmar.
