Ann Reeves

DELMAR -It is with profound sadness we announce the death of a beloved and loving Wife, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and Aunt, Ann C. (Robyn) Reeves. Robyn died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the age of 88. Robyn was born in Lake Placid on August 20, 1924 to Claire Coughlin Reeber and George Reeber. After she graduated from The College of Mt. St. Vincent, she was employed by the American Red Cross Rehab Center in Lake Placid and by IBM. In 1946 Robyn married Charles (Bud) Reeves and she left the corporate world to raise her family. Her life revolved around her family and her church. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church where she served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was a member and past President of the altar Rosary Society, member and past president of the Parish Council and a past trustee of the church. Her contributions to community projects included The Alzheimer's Caregivers Program and the St. Thomas Senior's Program. As a cancer survivor she served as a counselor in the Reach to Recovery Program and participated in the Susan B. Komen, Race For The Cure. Robyn initiated several beloved family traditions, which included the Thanksgiving Freeze-Out Picnic, held annually at Thacher Park (later moving to the town park). This event grew from a simple breakfast to an all day affair attended by extended family, friends and pets! But perhaps Robyn loved the annual vacation on Cape Cod more than any other gathering. For over 25 years she and Bud hosted their immediate and extended family for three glorious weeks in Orleans, MA. For Robyn three things were valued more than any other: family, friends and her deep faith. Throughout her life she was blessed with an empowering faith and a positive outlook that guided her through nine family relocations. She took every transfer in stride and made all of us feel at home in our new location. Robyn loved entertaining and she threw memorable parties, was a great cook and loved spending time in her gardens with her husband. She looked forward to each afternoon when she would invariably beat Bud in a couple of games of Scrabble. Robyn and Bud's long marriage was a true partnership of abiding love, sharing, friendship and devotion to each other, their family, church and community. Robyn was a constant source of strength and was the true hub of our family. "We might not have had it all together, but together we had it all". The family is grateful for the wonderful care she received from the Community Hospice and Interim Health Care. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bud, her loving son Charlie and three cherished grandsons, Matthew, Dylan and Alex Reeves. She will be deeply missed by her children: David (Susan), New London, NH; Christine (Stephen) Van Ullen, Cohoes, NY; Greg (Lisa), Valatie, NY; Janet (Barry Redmond) Delmar, NY. She was the much loved Grandma to Dave (Jessica) Stebbins and Dan Reeves, Greg (Julie) and Will Van Ullen, and Jillian, Claire and Alec Reeves. She was a new Great-Grandma to James Stebbins. We thank God for the life of Robyn Reeves! Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
