Angelo Picarazzi

1925 — June 21, 2017

SELKIRK- Angelo Picarazzi, 91, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 after a short Illness.

Born in Strangolagalli, Italy, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Teresa (Sementelli) Picarazzi and stepson of the late Natalina Picarazzi. Angelo was a yard master at Conrail in Selkirk where he worked for 40 years. He was a WWII Army veteran serving with the 9th Infantry Division, 47th Regiment. Angelo participated in the Normandy Invasion, Battle of Saint. Lo, the Bulge and was one of the first troops to cross the Remagan Bridge into Germany. He was wounded three times and the recipient of the Purple Heart with two oak clusters. He was an avid horseracing fan and enjoyed spending time at the Saratoga Race Track.

Angelo is survived by his nephews Stephen Picarazzi of Ballston Spa and Mark Picarazzi of Orlando, FL; his nieces Eugenia Testani, Teresa Marini and Linda Picarazzi all of Trumbull, Conn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Italy and his close friends Melissa Kenney and Jeffrey Domery of Ravena.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Applebee Funeral Home on Sunday, June 25, from 3 to 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30 in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Interment will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
