Andrea T. Leyden

Andrea Thomas Leyden passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving children on July 2nd, 2024 at age 77.

Born in Syracuse, NY to the late E. Gwyn and Harriet B. Thomas, Andrea enjoyed summers on Skaneateles Lake with her brother Gwyn Thomas (Deborah) and sister Margot Lucy Thomas. She moved to Delmar, NY with her family and graduated from Bethlehem Central High School. She studied at Cazenovia College and SUNY Brockport and later became a special education teacher, spending the bulk of her career teaching at Bethlehem Central Middle School. She was a passionate advocate for her students and their families.

Andrea's greatest joy in life was being a loving and supportive Mom to her three children, Michael Leyden (Sara Granstrom), Thomas Leyden (Melanie) and Kathryn Leyden Yund (George). She made the best birthday cakes, gave the best hugs and was always there for her children. Andrea enjoyed gardening, family gatherings, dogs, drawing, singing, baking, the outdoors and summers on Cape Cod. 

Andrea is also survived by her four grandchildren, Sophia, Annabel, Patrick and Charlie. She was loved beyond measure and will be sorely missed by her family.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Applebee Funeral Home in Delmar. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 pm followed by a memorial service at 6 pm.
