DELMAR: Alice Booth DeLaney, 96, passed away in her sleep December 8 at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Home, Delmar. Born in Elmira NY on April 6, 1915 she was the daughter of Wilfrid and Myra Ainsworth Booth. Alice graduated from Elmira College and taught secondary school until her marriage to John Paul DeLaney on June 30, 1941. She also worked at G. E. Schenectady and G. T. E. in Florida.
Music was a constant joy in her life. Alice sang for Schenectady Light Opera and Thursday Musical Club for many years and played the piano and organ for church services up until very recently, even while in the nursing home. She received the Capital District Seniors Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for her volunteer work.
Alice was predeceased by her husband John. She is survived by her children, Lolly Kehoe (Terry) of Utica, John Paul DeLaney, Jr, (Betsy Smith) of Glenmont, Myra Nelson (Dale) and Marty DeLaney (Ken Ringler) both of The Villages, FL and Flo DeLaney (Tom Stevens) of Eugene OR. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to call at 11 a.m. on Saturday December 17 at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue Delmar, N.Y. 12054. A service will follow at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m.
