Alfred Nasim Rehmat, 78 of Albany, entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday, November 25th, 2020 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
He was born in Sialkot, Pakistan on August 15th, 1942. He was the son of late Rehmat Masih & Fazal Bibi. He was a graduate of Christian Training Institute (C.T.I.) High School of Sialkot, Pakistan. After his mother’s death in 1965, he left home at the age of 17 to help his father raise the family and did trainings as a Draftsman and in the Mechanical field. After his marriage in 1968 to the late Doris Jacob Nasim, he settled in Karachi, Pakistan and worked at the Power House / Electric Supply Plant as an engineer and raised his family there. Later he went to Doha Qatar, Middle East in 1975 to 2001 and worked as an Electrical Engineer. He came to United States in 2002 to join his children and the family. He was blessed with five children, three daughters and two sons; one of his daughters passed away at the age of five in Rawalpindi, Pakistan in 1975.
He is survived by his four children: Anita, Aneel, Sunil (Naomi) & Sunita; brothers: Shamim Joseph (Naseem) & Shamshad Ali (Elizabeth); sisters: Venus Malik & Joyce Rehmat. His cherished grandsons: Moses, Samson & Samuel and several nieces & nephews. He is loved and remembered by many, especially by his extended family, his in-laws and friends. He loved fishing, gardening and cooking and was known as a great cook! He loved watching Wrestling and won’t miss it at any cost.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 12th, 2020. Wake will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m.at Third Reformed Church, 20 Ten Eyck Ave., Albany. Face coverings will be required and social distancing and occupancy limits will be observed. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany. In lieu of flowers, his children have asked that in the memory of their dad to perform a “random act of kindness.”
