SELKIRK - Albion P. Nowak, 84, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at Albany Medical Center Hospital, Albany, NY. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John Joseph Nowak and Pauline Nowak and the husband of the late Constance J. Weeks Nowak.
He was a 1948 graduate of Philip Schuyler High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Albion was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union No. 7 for 60 years. He resided in Selkirk, NY for the past 41 years and was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar.
Survivors include a sister, Catherine (William) Marshall, Loudonville, NY, a son, Walter (Janie) Nowak, Glenmont, a daughter, Joyce Stark (Steve Andriani), Selkirk, six grandchildren, Jonathan and Katherine Nowak (Jeff King), Jacquelyn & Jeremy Stark (Cheri Miller), Beckie and Stevie Grace Nowak and one great-granddaughter, Jayden Stark; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Steven J. Nowak, six brothers, Joseph, John, Andrew, Frank, George & Edward Nowak and three sisters, Elizabeth Parzych, Celia and Nellie.
Relatives and friends may call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave, Delmar, NY on Thursday, May 30, 2013, from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams PL., Delmar. Interment with military honors will follow the Mass in Calvary Cemetery, Rte. 9W, Glenmont, NY.
