DELMAR - Adolph J. "A.J." Krenn, 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Bethlehem Commons at Good Samaritan Village.
Born and educated in New Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Adolph J. and Helen (Fadal) Krenn, Sr. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, seeing action in the Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, Alaskan Campaign, totaling eleven major battles in the Pacific Theatre and the bombing of Tokyo. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and the Pearl Harbor Medal.
A.J. had been employed in the shipping and receiving department of Humphrey Chemical Co. in North Haven, CT for many years. He was a member of the Bethlehem Community Church. A.J. was predeceased by his wife, Ruth R. (O'Brien) Krenn, and sisters, Ethie Grottle and Bertha Ginter.
He is survived by a son, David B. Krenn and his wife Cheryl of Delmar; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Krenn of Colonie and Laura Krenn of Delmar; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held Monday 10 am at the Bethlehem Community Church, 201 Elm Ave., Delmar. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar.
