Obituary of Natalie R. Darrone

DELMAR - Natalie Jane (Richardson) Darrone, 90, received her angel wings on Thursday, March 22, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at the Good Samaritan Home in Delmar.

Born in Pikeville, NY on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1927, she was the oldest daughter of the late Harold and Vera (Woodard) Richardson.  The family then moved to Wellsville, NY where Natalie graduated High School at age 16. Her academic life continued to Syracuse University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree and met her future husband, the late Robert P. Darrone. She would later go on to receive her Master’s Degree from New York State College for Teachers.   Natalie was a highly respected and dedicated mathematics teacher at Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, NY.  She retired in 1986 and then spent a number of years working as the Office Assistant and volunteer committee/board member with the First United Methodist Church in Delmar, where she was a communicant for over 60 years.

Although Natalie was proud of her accomplishments as an educator, her greatest pride was in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She leaves a legacy of love in the hearts of each of them.  She was the epitome of a lady, our matriarch, our supporter, our cheerleader, our advisor,  and the most amazing Grammie.

In addition to her parents and former husband, Natalie was predeceased by her sister, Virginia Theoclitus Comstock and nephew, Craig Theoclitus.

Left to cherish her memory are: her children, Cheryl Lee (Edward) Bridge, Robert Douglas Darrone (and his longtime friend Rose Corcione), and Kimberly Diane (Michael) Ryan, her grandchildren, Jason (Tina) Bridge, Megan (Eddie Joe) Moulton, Jarrett (Susan) Bridge, Jesse (Kim Gruber) Darrone, Rhiannon (Vincenzo) Commisso, Sean Ryan, Lindsey (Brian McEvoy)Ryan, Kate Ryan and Nicole Ryan, her great-grandchildren, Parker and Gracyn Bridge, Darian and Delaney Moulton, Elijah and Tyler Bridge, Madeline Darrone, Roman Commisso, and New Baby Commisso due in May, also her sister, Faye Sweet, her nephew , Robert (Bridgette)Sweet and their children, Chelsea and Ryan, and her niece, Elizabeth (Carl) Whitesell and her son Ricky and his family.  She will also be missed by her loving companion, Millard Harmon and his family.

The family would like to say a special thanks to all who visited her in the nursing home over the past three years, and to her special nurses, Joanne Smith and Kathy Penkow, who lovingly took care of her.

A celebration of Natalie’s life will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 428 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar, NY, with a reception following to greet the family. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Natalie’s name to her favorite charity, the RPMs, a local high school youth group dedicated to serving others locally and with annual mission trips to lift up the homeless and less fortunate, and to rebuild communities after natural disasters.  Please send checks to: RPM Seniors, c/o Beth Gould, Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Ave., Delmar, NY 12054.
